Surakarta, Indonesia — June 26, 2025 — Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) welcomed a delegation from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Malaysia, in a strategic meeting and discussion held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the BPH Meeting Room, 6th Floor, Siti Walidah Main Building, UMS. The session focused on expanding academic collaboration, joint research, and international mobility programs.
The meeting was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Supriyono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Vice Rector of UMS, who reaffirmed the university’s commitment to international partnerships. “UMS is ready to continue and enhance academic mobility programs with UPSI. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, we successfully implemented several initiatives with UPSI,” said Prof. Supriyono. “We are also interested in learning about UPSI’s strategic efforts in improving its QS World University Ranking. We hope we can discuss more for the next collaboration.”
Representing UPSI, Prof. Dr. Ramli, Director of the International, Mobility and Advanced Education Centre (IMAC), UPSI, emphasized the importance of accelerating student and staff mobility, credit transfer, and joint research projects supported by matching funds and academic publications. He also shared UPSI’s ongoing initiatives in global university rankings and its experience in building international collaborations.
Key highlights of the discussion included: Academic Mobility, Double and Joint Degree Programs, Postdoctoral and Faculty Exchange Programs, Community Service and CSR Initiatives, Research and Publication Collaboration, Global Networking and Consortia, Intellectual Property Cooperation, Ranking Strategy Support, and many more.
The session concluded with a group photo session and a symbolic exchange of souvenirs, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and mutual growth.
UMS and UPSI look forward to formalizing these initiatives through the implementation of the collaboration, paving the way for impactful impact in higher education.
