Surakarta, December 22, 2025 — The Directorate of Reputation, Partnership, and International Affairs (DRKUI) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) organized the Cross Cultural Understanding (CCU) Program as a platform for information sharing and student engagement to support outbound international mobility to overseas partner universities.
The CCU Series 1 program was conducted online via Zoom Meeting on Monday, December 22, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM WIB until completion. This activity forms part of DRKUI’s efforts to strengthen UMS’s internationalization strategy while preparing students to actively participate in various global mobility schemes.
The CCU Program aims to broaden students’ global perspectives by equipping them with cross-cultural understanding as well as practical information related to international academic experiences. Through this program, students are expected to better understand the dynamics of studying abroad while developing globally oriented academic planning.
In its inaugural series, CCU highlighted international mobility opportunities in Uzbekistan. The session was designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the academic system, cultural context, and student exchange opportunities at UMS partner universities in Uzbekistan.
DRKUI UMS invited Mirazam Mirsolikhov, Head of the International Department of Millat Umidi University, as the main speaker. In his presentation, Mirazam outlined various international student mobility opportunities, particularly student exchange schemes at Millat Umidi University.
“Uzbekistan, particularly Millat Umidi University, is open to international students. We offer an inclusive academic environment, internationally standardized learning systems, and valuable cross-cultural experiences for students,” said Mirazam.
He also emphasized that collaboration with UMS represents a strategic step in strengthening academic exchange and expanding international networks between universities.
In the following session, Camellia Tabina Fawwaz, a UMS student currently participating in an outbound mobility program in Uzbekistan, shared her first-hand experiences of academic life and campus culture at Millat Umidi University.
“Participating in an outbound program in Uzbekistan has given me a new perspective, both academically and culturally. I have learned to be more independent, adaptive, and globally minded,” Camellia shared.
She expressed her hope that her experience would inspire other UMS students to confidently pursue international mobility opportunities as part of their personal development and global competency building.
The program was open to first- and third-semester students from the Informatics, Management, Accounting, and English Education study programs, with the aim of encouraging early awareness of international opportunities and supporting long-term academic planning.
Through the implementation of the CCU Program, DRKUI UMS reaffirms its commitment to preparing globally minded graduates, strengthening students’ cross-cultural competencies, and expanding access to international mobility opportunities as part of UMS’s global academic journey.
