UMS Establishes Strategic Partnership with Ministry of Trade to Empower Globally-Oriented Young Entrepreneurs

Surakarta, 2 April 2026 — Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) has officially established a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia in an effort to foster globally-oriented young entrepreneurs.

The collaboration was formalized during the signing ceremony held at the Campuspreneur program kick-off event at Universitas Sebelas Maret on April 2, 2026. The program is an initiative by the Ministry of Trade in collaboration with several universities across Indonesia, aimed at nurturing student entrepreneurs to become future exporters.

Vice Rector V of UMS, Prof. Supriyono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., stated that this partnership serves as a strategic step to open opportunities for students to enter international markets through their entrepreneurial products.

“We aim to cultivate young entrepreneurs who are not only competitive but also globally oriented and capable of exporting their products,” he explained.

Through the Campuspreneur program, UMS students will gain access to various training and empowerment programs facilitated by the Ministry of Trade. These initiatives are designed to equip students with practical skills in business development, preparing them to compete in the export market.

Furthermore, Supriyono emphasized that this collaboration is expected to shift students’ mindset from job seekers to job creators.

“We hope UMS students will not only seek employment but also create job opportunities for others,” he added.

As part of the event, UMS students also showcased several of their entrepreneurial products. The four featured works included the Emotimu Board game, the fashion brand Kubik Society, eco-friendly fashion product Ecograss Print, and Klanceng Edufarm honey.

The student innovators also had the opportunity to participate in a coaching clinic session with consultants from the Ministry of Trade. The session provided insights on product development strategies, including packaging design, branding, and product awareness.

One of the Emotimu Board team members, Mohammad Ihsan, shared that the mentoring session was highly beneficial for their product development.

“Alhamdulillah, we gained many new insights to further develop our product, which is still in its growth stage,” Ihsan said optimistically.

Through this collaboration, UMS reaffirms its commitment to producing graduates who are innovative, independent, and ready to compete on a global scale.
