Karanganyar, August 16, 2025 – The Directorate of Reputation, Partnership, and International Affairs (DRKUI) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) successfully held its Annual Work Meeting on August 15–16, 2025, in Tawangmangu, Karanganyar, Central Java.
The event was attended and accompanied by Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Reputation, Impact, Partnership, and International Affairs, Prof. Supriyono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., who delivered strategic directions regarding the future agenda and programs of DRKUI.
In his remarks, Prof. Supriyono emphasized that DRKUI is expected to design programs that involve various stakeholders across UMS, including academic departments at the program level. This is crucial to ensure that the internationalization agenda is not only centralized but also implemented comprehensively throughout the university. He also stressed that international ranking parameters must serve as the key indicators for measuring the success of DRKUI’s mission, with clear and measurable outcomes.
Furthermore, Prof. Supriyono highlighted the importance of strengthening the university’s international outlook, which includes increasing the number of international students at UMS, expanding faculty mobility, strengthening international collaborations, and ensuring sustainability in all initiatives.
As part of the program formulation, the meeting was divided into four commission groups, namely Academic Cooperation and Mobility, Global Reputation, Industry and Business Partnerships, and Hospitality. Each commission discussed and formulated draft programs which were then consolidated during the plenary session on the second day. The plenary session served as a platform to integrate all proposed initiatives into a comprehensive work plan for DRKUI for the 2025–2026 period.
Overall, the Annual Work Meeting of DRKUI ran effectively and productively, resulting in concrete programs ready for implementation. The dynamic discussions reflected a strong spirit of collaboration and commitment from all participants in advancing UMS as a globally competitive university.
Through this forum, DRKUI reaffirmed its commitment to delivering innovative programs that not only enhance reputation and international rankings but also bring tangible benefits to the academic community, industry partners, and the global society. With the outcomes of this meeting, DRKUI is optimistic about strengthening UMS’s role as a center of excellence in higher education—innovative, globally connected, and impactful for the wider community.
