ums.ac.id, SURAKARTA – In the pursuit of advancing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, the National Institute of Technology (ITENAS) Bandung visited Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday, August 22, held at the Meeting Room of the Rectorate in the Main Building of Siti Walidah UMS.
Prof. Supriyono, ST., Ph.D., Vice Rector V for Cooperation and International Affairs, welcomed the delegation from ITENAS Bandung, led by ITENAS Rector, Prof. Meilinda Nurbanasari, Ph.D., to Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta.
“At the beginning of this meeting, I’d like to give an overview of UMS, which is one of the universities under the Muhammadiyah Association and has four campuses,” he stated.
He further explained that over 80% of the study programs at UMS are nationally accredited. Currently, UMS has added doctoral programs in Pharmacy, Psychology, and Mechanical Engineering, bringing the total number of doctoral programs to six.
He revealed that at the outset of the meeting, they discussed cooperation in student mobility activities under the Free Campus Competition Program (PKKM).
“In the future, we hope this cooperation can expand into other areas, such as workshops and other collaborative activities,” he added.
During the meeting, ITENAS Bandung Rector Prof. Meilinda discussed various factors considered when choosing to collaborate with UMS.
“We believe that UMS has a high level of expertise in managing universities with an ‘excellent’ predicate,” said the ITENAS Rector.
Additionally, she noted that UMS is a campus that has received a grant from the Free Campus Competition Program (PKKM).
“I agree with what Prof. Supri mentioned; in the future, we hope this collaboration won’t be limited to just signing an MoU but can grow in various areas,” she added.
With this in mind, it is hoped that this collaboration will have the same chemistry, stemming from both private universities.
“In the past, we learned about the Free Independent Campus Program (MBKM) from UMS, specifically related to administration, payments, and other aspects related to MBKM management,” she explained.
Following the signing of the MoU, discussions continued regarding various collaborations to be undertaken between ITENAS Bandung and UMS.
