Phnom Penh, June 15, 2025 — Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) participated in Sousdey Indonesia 2025, an event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Phnom Penh, held on June 14–15, 2025 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This participation is part of UMS’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its international network and expand global access to education for students across Southeast Asia.
Sousdey 2025 attracted over 4,000 visitors and featured 53 participants, including 29 exhibitors from Indonesia and 24 from Cambodia. The event showcased a wide range of products and services across various industries such as fashion, food and beverages, furniture, pharmaceuticals, and personal care. In addition to the trade exhibition, six prominent Indonesian universities were present to promote study opportunities and scholarship programs — including UMS, which actively introduced its international academic programs.
The UMS booth was among the most visited, especially by Cambodian students exploring study opportunities abroad. Many visitors expressed great enthusiasm and asked questions about scholarship availability, application processes, and the learning environment for international students at UMS. This high level of interest reflects a strong attraction to Indonesia’s higher education offerings.
“Our participation in Sousdey 2025 is part of UMS’s internationalization strategy to build cross-border educational partnerships and introduce UMS’s academic excellence to the world,” said Wijianto, S.T., M.Eng.Sc, Head of International Program at the Office of Collaboration and International Affairs of UMS, who was present at the event.
Through this event, UMS showcased its international class programs, scholarships, and opportunities for research collaboration available to international students. UMS hopes that this event will pave the way for more Cambodian students to pursue quality higher education in Indonesia and further strengthen bilateral relations in the field of education between the two countries.
This participation also reflects UMS’s strong commitment to supporting inclusive and sustainable global education. By continuously fostering international collaboration and bringing innovation into the learning experience, UMS reaffirms its vision to become a World Class University, capable of competing globally and contributing positively to global civilization.
