ASKUI PTMA Appoints New Leadership for 2025–2027 Period to Strengthen Global Engagement of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Universities

Surakarta, 21 October 2025 — The Association of International Affairs Offices (ASKUI) of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA) officially held a leadership handover ceremony as part of the Annual Meeting ASKUI PTMA 2025, hosted at The Alana Hotel, Surakarta, on Tuesday (21/10).
The event marked the completion of the 2023–2025 term and the beginning of the new leadership period for 2025–2027.

In his final address, Dr. Condro Nur Alin, Head of ASKUI for the 2023–2025 period, emphasized ASKUI’s unwavering commitment to advancing the internationalization agenda of Muhammadiyah higher education.
He highlighted one of the key achievements of his tenure — the development of PTMA Internationalization Big Data, a centralized and real-time information system that integrates data on foreign partners, international students, and student mobility programs across PTMA.

“This data can be accessed in real time and serves as a unified information base for all PTMA institutions,” Condro explained.

He further underlined that the principle of ta’awun (mutual cooperation) remains the foundation for strengthening synergy among PTMA universities.

“We aim to ensure that internationalization efforts are evenly distributed, not only concentrated among larger PTMA institutions. Every Muhammadiyah university deserves equal opportunities to develop impactful international programs that contribute to accreditation and institutional ranking,” he added.

The newly appointed Head of ASKUI for the 2025–2027 term, Dr. Aidil Syah Putra, M.Pd., expressed his gratitude for the trust given to him and his team.

“Insya Allah, we will maintain unity and collaboration among all members of ASKUI. If there are shortcomings along the way, we are open to feedback and continuous improvement,” he affirmed.

Dr. Putra also outlined his vision and strategic direction for the new leadership period, emphasizing that ASKUI’s primary goal is to internationalize all Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah universities, which now total more than 160 institutions nationwide.

“Our main vision is clear — to enable every PTMA to play an active role on the global stage, whether through the recruitment of international students, international research grants, or cross-border collaborations,” he stated.

To realize this vision, ASKUI plans to strengthen cooperation among International Offices within PTMA through the spirit of “one for all, all for one.”

“From Sabang to Merauke, we will first consolidate our internal network to unify our shared vision. There should be no distinction between large, medium, and small PTMA institutions — all must support one another,” Dr. Putra emphasized.

He also confirmed that the new leadership will continue and enhance several key initiatives from the previous administration, including the completion of the PTMA Big Data system. Furthermore, ASKUI will prioritize three core areas — education, research, and community service — as the foundation of its internationalization roadmap.

“Our focus areas will include research, particularly in accreditation, external funding, and scholarship programs such as KNB. These will be integrated with initiatives in education and community engagement,” he explained.

Looking ahead, Dr. Putra expressed his optimism that ASKUI will guide Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah universities toward achieving world-class recognition.

“We hope that in the near future, PTMA institutions will become globally competitive universities — even reaching the Top 10 or Top 50 in Global Student Mobility rankings,” he envisioned.

The leadership transition not only symbolizes continuity and renewal within ASKUI but also reinforces Muhammadiyah’s broader mission of nurturing progressive, globally connected education.

Through this new leadership, ASKUI and UMS reaffirm their commitment to advancing the internationalization of Muhammadiyah higher education — fostering unity, collaboration, and impactful global engagement across all PTMA institutions.
