Surakarta, December 24, 2024 – Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) welcomed a collaboration visit from Bukhara University of Innovation (BUI), Uzbekistan, on Tuesday (12/24) in the Rectorate Meeting Room of the Siti Walidah Main Building, UMS. This meeting involved several university and faculty leaders from UMS, including the Office of Collaboration and International Affairs, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Dentistry, and Soelastri Ora; and Dental Hospital (RSGM).
The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss plans for establishing a School of Medicine in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. This initiative represents a collaboration between UMS and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). On this occasion, UMS Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Research, Community Service, Publication, and Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI), Prof. Dr. Harun Joko Prayitno, M.Hum., emphasized UMS’s readiness to engage in academic collaboration, including the implementation of joint research and joint publication that can enhance the quality of education as a strategic step in advancing both institutions.
The Rector of the Bukhara University of Innovation, Prof. Dr. Roziyeva Dilnoz Isomjonovna, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome from UMS. She also expressed hope that the collaboration could be realized starting in 2025. One of the planned programs includes sending BUI students to UMS and UMY to participate in a Summer Course Program.
Following the discussions with UMS leadership, the event continued with visits to several faculties, including the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Medicine. Additionally, UMS accompanied the BUI delegation on a collaboration visit to RS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta and Soelastri Oral and Dental Hospital (RSGM). During these visits, the BUI delegations were provided with explanations about the services, facilities, and flagship programs of each institution and were given a tour to directly observe the facilities.
This visit marks a strategic initial step in building bilateral relations between UMS and BUI, while also strengthening UMS’s international network in the fields of education and healthcare. With the realization of this collaboration, it is hoped that new opportunities will emerge for the development of education, research, and international mobility.
