Surakarta, January 14, 2025 – Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) held a socialization and workshop event titled Student Outbound Mobility Grants and International Partner Recruitment on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the Djazman Al Kindi Hall. The event was attended by Heads of Study Programs (Kaprodi) and Secretaries of Study Programs (Sekprodi) of International Undergraduate Programs at UMS. The primary aim was to promote international student mobility programs and expand UMS’s global partnerships.
The event began with a presentation by the Head of Mobility and Hospitality at the Bureau of Collaboration and International Affairs (BKUI) of UMS, Mrs. Sri Indra Kurnia, MPH. She introduced the Student Outbound Mobility Grant, an initiative that provides financial subsidies for students to participate in international programs. This grant is accessible to all undergraduate programs at UMS, with the goal of increasing the number of international mobility activities.
“This program not only enables students to gain international experiences but also strengthens UMS’s reputation as an institution committed to internationalization,” explained Mrs. Sri Indra Kurnia.
The second speaker, Mrs. Soepatini, Ph.D., Secretary of the International Management Program at UMS, shared her insights and experiences regarding the implementation of international mobility programs within the Management Study Program. During her session, she highlighted strategies, challenges, and solutions for running initiatives such as double degree programs, student exchanges, credit transfers, and other international activities.
“The double degree program represents the highest level of international mobility as it provides significant added value for students. However, programs like student exchange and credit transfer are equally essential as initial steps to introduce students to cross-cultural experiences,” said Mrs. Soepatini.
The event also featured interactive discussions, where participants exchanged ideas and sought solutions for challenges in implementing international mobility programs. This discussion demonstrated UMS’s strong commitment to fostering international collaboration across various academic programs.
With the launch of the Student Outbound Mobility Grant and full support from BKUI, UMS aims to encourage more study programs to develop international mobility initiatives, whether through partnerships with international institutions or by creating opportunities for students to study abroad.
