Celebrating Cultural Differences from Various Countries, BKUI UMS Holds 3rd ICAC 2024

ums.ac.id, SOLO – The Office of Cooperation and International Affairs (BKUI) of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) is holding back the agenda for international cultural exchange and introduction through the “3rd International Cultural Academy Competition (ICAC) 2024”. ICAC 2024 activities were held at the Mohammad Djazman Building, Campus 1 UMS, on Monday (10/6).

Head of BKUI UMS Mobility and Services Sri Indra Kurnia, S.KM., MPH explained that this ICAC activity provides an opportunity for students to introduce culture from various countries around the world.

“ICAC is an annual event to celebrate cultural differences and appreciation for student competition. “In this event, students were brought together from various countries to show their talent and global understanding,” said Sri Indra Kurnia.

On this agenda, both local and foreign students will introduce each other to their culture and talents through cultural parades, fashion shows, culinary delights, dances, songs, and so on.

Apart from participants, students and visitors can visit the decoration booths and taste typical dishes from other countries.\

Deputy Chancellor V UMS Prof. Supriyono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., on this occasion expressed his gratitude for the extraordinary interest from the participants. A total of 137 foreign student participants from 30 countries from 29 universities took part in this annual agenda.

“This activity is actually aimed at all international students studying in Indonesia from various universities to join and build networks. “Holding an event like this is also aimed at sharpening global understanding, especially cultural differences, as well as mutual respect for cultural differences,” explained Supriyono.

Apart from inviting foreign students, UMS also invited students from the UMS Independent Student Exchange (PMM) to add to the excitement of this activity.

“Thank God, this morning we also invited friends who are involved in PMM who also study at UMS to take part in enlivening the event this morning to afternoon,” said Andy Dwi Bayu Bawono, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D. as Head of BKUI UMS.

One of the students from Yemen, Basheer Anwar Ibrahim Rajeh, expressed his impressions of the ICAC 2024 event.

“This event is good because it supports cultural differences, so that everyone gets to know the traditional culture in these countries. “This also supports our knowledge of culture,” said Basheer, a UMS Chemical Engineering student. (Maysali/Public Relations)
