Surakarta, August 30, 2025 – Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) continues to strengthen its role as a world-class university by officially sending six selected students to Dong-A University, South Korea, for the Double Degree Program in the Fall Semester 2025.
The six students consist of four from the International Management Study Program and two from the International Informatics Study Program. They are:
– Abhinaya Rajendra Putra – Informatics
– Alfaj Syahrizal Izara – Management
– Erick Rovano – Management
– Faqih Assadad – Management
– Historavi Fauzano Rachman – Informatics
– Raihan Septian Aji – Management
They were selected after going through a highly competitive internal process that assessed admission and visa requirements, academic readiness, financial capability, and psychological preparedness.
Since June 2025, the students have undergone extensive preparations, including program briefings with their parents/guardians, coordination with program study teams and the UMS International Affairs Office (KUI), as well as simulations to prepare for studying abroad. Additionally, they had to pass document screening and interviews conducted by Dong-A University before being officially accepted as students.
As part of the program requirements, students must attend a Korean language course for one to four semesters, depending on their proficiency level. The faster they achieve TOPIK Level 3, the sooner they can join regular classes. Dong-A University’s semester-based admission system allows UMS students to start regular lectures without unnecessary delays.
Currently, nearly 40 UMS students are actively pursuing their double degree studies at Dong-A University, reflecting UMS’s commitment to expanding international mobility programs and solidifying its position as a globally oriented higher education institution.
Beyond academic exchange, this program represents UMS’s commitment to providing comprehensive international exposure to its students. Through this double degree program, students not only experience the educational environment abroad but also enhance their foreign language proficiency, deepen their intercultural understanding, and improve their ability to adapt to a global academic setting.
UMS strongly believes that campus internationalization is a key factor in producing graduates who excel not only academically but also in terms of independence, confidence, and cross-cultural competence. With this overseas study experience, UMS students are expected to become globally competitive young leaders who proudly represent their alma mater and serve as cultural ambassadors on the international stage.
As part of its long-term commitment, UMS will continue to expand its network of international partners, strengthen both academic and non-academic support for students, and create more opportunities for global mobility. These efforts reflect UMS’s dedication to preparing graduates who are ready to compete in the global era and contribute positively to society at both the national and international levels.
