More Than 8000 Prospective Foreign Students Enroll at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) is conducting the selection for foreign student admissions for the 2024/2025 academic year, with a total of 8,456 applicants from various countries. The number of applicants is divided into several programs, including:

  • Self-funded Undergraduate Program: 86 Applicants
  • Self-funded Postgraduate Program: 33 Applicants
  • International Priority Scholarship Undergraduate: 5,482 Applicants
  • International Priority Scholarship Postgraduate: 2,551 Applicants

In addition to these programs, UMS is also accepting 304 foreign students this year through the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) dan Darmasiswa programs by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) of the Republic of Indonesia.
The high interest of prospective foreign students in continuing their studies at UMS is believed to be the result of the university’s expanded efforts in promoting international programs and broadening cooperation networks with educational institutions in various countries. These efforts include active participation in international education fairs, increasing visibility through the website and social media, and developing a curriculum that takes global perspectives into account.

UMS offers several international study programs that attract prospective students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds. These study programs include Management, Communication, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nursing Science, and Islamic Education.

In response to the increasing number of foreign students, UMS has also strengthened its supporting infrastructure, including academic facilities, hospitality, and other social support services to ensure a satisfying learning experience for all students.
The large number of foreign applicants at UMS not only reflects UMS’s global reputation as a quality education center but also indicates the great potential for cultural exchange and enhanced international cooperation in the future.
